Oldham Liaison Mental Health is recruiting for a Senior Mental Health Liaison Practitioner. You will be part of an innovative team dedicated to providing high-quality mental health assessments and support for patients in crisis, including those attending A&E, on hospital wards, or detained under S136.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver effective responses to referrals, focusing on relapse prevention, early discharge, and quality of life improvements.
  2. Undertaking mental health assessments in the Emergency Department, including clinical and risk assessments.
  3. Providing assessments and support to hospital wards for patients with complex physical and mental health needs.
  4. Supporting hospital staff through training on mental health condition recognition and management.
  5. Offering clinical support to police and ambulance staff for pathway decisions.
  6. Managing assessments and care for individuals under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act.

The team aims for accreditation by The Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network. You will be supported by experienced practitioners, with opportunities for professional development, flexible working, and staff wellbeing.

Essential qualities include the ability to recognize personal limitations, prioritize workload, participate in service development, and handle clinical incidents appropriately.
