• Update Liability claims files with accurate data reflecting complex exposure and best practices.
• Determine liability by analysing facts and applying applicable law and negligence principles.
• Verify policy coverage and determine whether loss falls within coverage.
• Meet SLAs and ensure timely handling of claims.
• Assess damages and ranges allowed by law; adjust reserves accordingly.
• Coordinate litigation by instructing panel lawyers, planning budgets, and reviewing expenses.

Job description

Our client, an expanding run off company, seek a Senior Liability Claims Adjuster. The Senior Claims Adjuster is responsible for ensuring the effective management and/or settlement of claims in Employers Liability and Public Liability as well as assisting with the development and execution of proactive claims management strategies.

Applicants should have prior UK Liability (EL/PL) claims handling experience and ideally Disease (Mesothelioma or other high value disease claims) claims handling exposure.

Duties and Responsibilities

Update Liability claims files by accurately capturing and updating claims data/information in compliance with best practices reflecting the highest degree of technical complexity and exposure.
Use judgment to determine liability by gathering and analysing relevant facts, utilising applicable law and establishing basic principles of negligence/breach of duty.
Use judgment to determine policy verification and coverage determination by analysing applicable coverage for claims and determining whether the loss falls within the coverage.
Comply with relevant SLAs at all times
Assess damages by calculating applicable damages or range of damages allowed by law.
Manage litigation by instructing the approved panel where applicable, establishing litigation plan and budget, co-ordinating panel lawyer activities, continuously reviewing the potential for settlement, reviewing litigation expenses and authorising payments.
