Job description

Job Description

We are currently supporting a leading multinational energy and infrastructure company in their search for a Senior Legal Counsel with deep construction and infrastructure expertise. This is an initial 6-month fixed term contract, ideal for a senior lawyer who thrives in fast-paced, high-value project environments.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years' PQE and significant experience advising on EPC contracts across large-scale, complex domestic and international infrastructure projects. You’ll be joining a collaborative and high-performing in-house legal team and playing a key role in supporting major developments across the energy and infrastructure space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the drafting, negotiation and management of EPC, FIDIC, NEC and bespoke construction contracts for major infrastructure projects.
  • Advise on all legal aspects of the project lifecycle, from procurement through to delivery and close-out.
  • Support internal project, commercial and engineering teams on risk allocation, claims, variations, and contract management.
  • Manage relationships with external counsel and advise on dispute resolution strategy where required.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (including commercial, technical, and finance) to ensure legal alignment on high-value infrastructure investments.
  • Provide commercially focused legal advice that supports successful and compliant project execution.

Candidate Profile:

  • UK-qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with 10+ years of post-qualified experience.
  • Extensive experience advising on EPC and construction contracts, ideally with both UK and international infrastructure projects.
  • Strong familiarity with standard form contracts including FIDIC, NEC, and bespoke EPC arrangements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and advise stakeholders at all levels.
  • Prior experience in the energy, infrastructure or utilities sectors is highly desirable.
