Job description

Global leader in the mining and energy sector is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel with a background in Projects, Energy and/or Infrastructure to join their team on a maternity cover contract commencing in June/July. The position is based in their central London office, with a hybrid working arrangement (4 days in the office, 1 day remote). The initial contract period is 8 months, with the potential for extension.

Reporting to the Head of Legal, your responsibilities will include:

1. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts supporting global mining and infrastructure projects, including construction, services, and procurement agreements.
2. Identifying and mitigating legal risks.
3. Advising on tax and insurance provisions.
4. Working closely with operational and project stakeholders.
5. Instructing external counsel.
6. Collaborating effectively within a fast-paced, global legal team.

To be considered, candidates should have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), preferably trained in the energy and projects team of a reputable law firm, with similar in-house experience. Strong contract drafting and stakeholder management skills are essential for success in this role.
