We are seeking a highly-organized, self-motivated Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience advising businesses in a broad array of legal matters affecting a fast-paced growth organization.

About Midnight:

IOG's Midnight Tribe is a business technology provider and core contributor to the Midnight Network, a blockchain platform for developing decentralized applications that safeguard personal and commercial data. The Midnight Network is the first blockchain to offer programmable data isolation by leveraging zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs to enable selective disclosure of information on-chain, helping developers meet regulatory requirements.

Role Overview:

As Senior Legal Counsel for Midnight, you will provide legal guidance and ensure compliance within the dynamic blockchain industry. You will work closely with our Chief Legal Counsel, providing strategic advice, managing risks, and aligning operations with industry standards.

• Offer legal guidance on issues including contracts, product development, intellectual property, privacy, regulatory compliance, and finance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as vendor agreements, software licenses, terms of service, and privacy contracts.
• Review marketing materials to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.
• Identify legal risks and advise on minimizing liabilities.
• Stay informed on legal developments relevant to blockchain and conduct legal research.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for legal support.
• Conduct training sessions on legal and compliance matters for staff.

Requirements:

• Experience supporting external partners, regulators, and internal teams in a legal capacity.
• Proactive, ownership-driven, with sound judgment.
• Strong contract drafting and review skills, with awareness of legal and regulatory considerations.
• Ability to advise on compliance and upcoming crypto regulations in key markets like the UK, EU, US, and UAE.

Educational and Experience Criteria:

• 10+ years in legal practice, preferably both in-house and private practice (flexible for relevant crypto experience).
• Qualified to practice law in the US, UK, or relevant jurisdiction.
• Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented.
• Self-motivated with ownership of tasks.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
• Flexible working across time zones and teams.
