Senior Legal Counsel – Insurance – Middle East focus – 3+ PQE

Our client is one of the largest global life and health reinsurance companies in the world, with operations in 26 countries. It is a market leader in life and health reinsurance solutions.

The UK legal team is headquartered in the City of London and provides full legal support across the jurisdiction. It is a friendly, collaborative and supportive team. An opportunity has arisen for an insurance lawyer to join the legal team to focus on the Middle East business.

You will be required to provide advice on a wide range of issues including insurance and reinsurance agreements, disputes and claims, tech and data protection matters, regulatory questions and general commercial. As the focus of this role will be on the Middle East, previous experience of the insurance market and regulatory regime that jurisdiction is required.

You must be admitted to practice law in a leading recognised jurisdiction (civil or common law) and have at least 3 years of work experience within insurance. We are happy to consider either contentious or non-contentious insurance experience. Arabic language skills are highly desirable.

You must be able to demonstrate strong negotiation and drafting skills and be willing to pick up new matters. To thrive in this position you must be motivated, well-organised, be able to multi-task and happy to work independently as well as part of a team. The ability to display initiative and take responsibility is also necessary. You will be joining a small, high calibre team that is respected by the business.
