  • Work closely with key business stakeholders including Underwriting, Finance, Tax and Claims teams.
  • Draft and negotiate insurance-specific contracts.
  • Advise on delegated insurance arrangements and distribution deals.
  • Handle contractual complaints and incidents.
  • Collaborate with the Group General Counsel and mentor junior legal professionals.

Senior Legal Counsel Insurance

Remote

Permanent

£90,000- £115,000 per annum

A Senior Legal Counsel with experience in insurance law is required to join an Insurance broker on a permanent basis.

The successful Senior Legal Counsel Insurance will be able to benefit from flexible working arrangements and can be based out of offices in the South East or Manchester or work remotely making this a unique opportunity!

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be joining a close-knit small legal team that works seamlessly within the wider organisation. The successful Senior Legal Counsel will ideally have extensive experience working within insurance law either from Private Practice or working in-house. You will be the lead expert on non contentious insurance specific matters and have a background ideally from personal lines or commercial lines.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, your role will include, but is not limited to;

  • Working closely with key business stakeholders including Underwriting, Finance, Tax and Claims teams
  • Drafting and negotiating insurance specific contracts
  • Advising on delegated insurance arrangements and distribution deals
  • Drafting policies and advising on regulatory and insurance matters (FCA, other advisory/transactional work)
  • Handling contractual complaints/incidents
  • Managing delegated TOBAs
  • Understanding how insurance contracts work, including policy wording and navigating insurance documents/contracts
  • Managing legal responses to regulatory bodies including the FCA, HMRC, Gibraltar Financial Services Commission, and Guernsey regulators.
  • Supporting broker and distribution activities, including consumer lending and County Court matters.
  • Advising on company law and broader corporate governance issues.
  • Collaborating with the Group General Counsel and deputising when needed.
  • Mentoring junior legal professionals and promoting knowledge-sharing across the business

As the Senior Legal Counsel you will have;

  • Experience of working within the insurance industry or working on behalf of an insurer specifically on non contentious insurance matters.
  • Experience within insurance distribution
