Taylor Root is working with an energy business who operate principally across emerging markets. They’re looking to hire a Senior Legal Counsel to provide cover for 6 months from August.
This role reports into the General Counsel and sits within a legal team of 4 in London, with local counsels internationally. This is a broad, generalist in-house role working on the following:
Asset development, joint ventures, M&A activity, business development for projects.
Contracts and procurement: reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts in support of the company’s operations.
Liaising with external counsel internationally.
Providing analysis and oversight of local regulatory frameworks.
This would suit someone coming from a Corporate M&A background, or Energy/Projects-type background. You’ll be sitting in a really terrific team, working in very pleasant environment, with people who like and are interested in what they do. With offices in central London, you’re very much sitting amongst and interacting with the commercial teams (e.g. operations, engineers, transactions team).
Experience required:
At least 5 years’+ PQE, having trained at a well-reputed law firm, or comparable in-house experience.
UK qualified solicitor, or solicitor qualified in a common-law jurisdiction.
If someone has had exposure to the oil and gas sector during transactions, that would be helpful.
Fluency in English required. Other like Spanish, Portuguese, or French are helpful but not essential.
Demonstrable integrity, professionalism, and collegiality.
Good attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and ability to be well-reasoned.
