Are you a commercially minded legal professional with experience in financial services?

Do you thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment where your input directly shapes strategy and operations?

Ready to make an impact at a major player in the automotive finance space?

Client:

My client is a dynamic and innovative financial services provider, delivering tailored solutions to the automotive industry. They are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their collaborative in-house legal team and support the Head of Legal in advising across legal, regulatory, and commercial matters.

This is a high-visibility role offering strategic influence and close engagement with senior stakeholders across the business. You'll provide legal support across commercial contracts, regulatory compliance (including consumer credit), risk management, and governance. You'll also contribute to internal investigations, legal frameworks, and business-wide projects that drive continuous improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior lawyer who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, values collaboration, and wants to help shape the legal and operational strategy of a growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on legal and regulatory risk, including UK financial services regulation and consumer credit matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial and third-party contracts.
  • Support the Head of Legal with legal input into business transformation and product initiatives.
  • Assist with internal investigations, litigation management, and dispute resolution where needed.
  • Provide governance and compliance advice to business units.
  • Contribute to internal legal frameworks, policies, and controls.
  • Collaborate with group-level stakeholders to ensure legal alignment across jurisdictions.

About You:

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 5+ years PQE.
  • Strong knowledge of financial services regulation, consumer credit law, and commercial contracts. Exposure to the motor finance industry is beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and guide stakeholders across all levels of the business.
  • Commercial, pragmatic, and solutions-focused, with a collaborative approach.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently with senior leadership.

What is on offer:

  • Annual bonus
