Client & Role

My client, is a world leader and specialist in energy services, with nearly 100,000 employees working in more than 50 countries, with an annual turnover of over 10 billion euros. They are looking for someone to join their dynamic growing team, as Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel for this In-House role.

This is a hybrid opportunity requiring 1 day in office per week at one of their locations in either Leeds, Birmingham or London.

Due to continued and robust growth, they are currently looking to add legal Counsel to their Company, working in one of the office locations above. The role will support its “Places & Communities Division”, which is one of the biggest revenue generators in the group; led by and reporting into the Head of Legal in P&C.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, negotiating and/or drafting agreements and conducting contract negotiations with project counterparties primarily for construction, refurbishment and related services.
  • Supporting on commercial and contractual matters for tenders, projects, variations and on-going contractual and operational matters.
  • You will also work closely with the P&C legal and business teams especially business development, commercial and senior management and externally with counterparty legal advisers, the Company’s external legal advisers, contract counterparties and customers.
  • You will be required to provide timely, high quality, practical and commercially focused legal advice, balancing legal risk with the commercial needs of the business.

Requirements

  • UK (or common law equivalent) qualified solicitor or barrister with ideally 4-10 years PQE (flexible based on quality of experience)
  • Understanding of the contractual framework surrounding construction projects within the UK construction market including experience of negotiating and agreements based on industry standard forms in particular the JCT suite of contracts and NEC.
  • Experience of public procurement preferred.
