Job description


A fast-growing organisation within the biotech sector is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their organisation. The organisation is a specialist leader in providing an understanding of the full healthcare cycle combining cutting edge science and technology to have a real and lasting impact on the future of healthcare to address some of the biggest health challenges.

About the role:

As Senior Legal Counsel you will be responsible for providing legal advice, guidance, direction and strategic partnership across a wide variety of legal and compliance matters. Responsibilities, will include leading on the review, drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements with clients, partners and suppliers. Advising on intellectual property matters and data privacy matters. Additionally, you will support the regulatory team with advice on regulatory issues relevant to the life sciences and healthcare sectors.

About you:

  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 PQE, having trained either in a top UK law firm or in-house. English-qualified (or US-qualified) lawyer with at least four years' post-qualification experience (or equivalent US experience).
  • Ideally you have experience of working in a commercial in-house environment. Previous experience gained within a life sciences, healthcare or technology business and / or a venture-backed scale-up would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience of working on multi-jurisdictional matters with a geographically dispersed teams would be positive.
  • Significant experience in commercial contracting and at least two of the following: intellectual property; data privacy and governance; SaaS; regulatory issues applicable to the life sciences and healthcare sectors (including medical device matters).
  • The ability to navigate complex and novel legal issues and deliver solution-focussed advice in a dynamic commercial environment.
