Job description

Your new company

A leading engineering company is looking for a construction legal professional as an additional hire to a small team. This will be a permanent hire (temporary to permanent considered) for a start in November. The company specialises in sustainable green energy infrastructure, driven by a forward-looking approach to the industry's challenges and is going through exceptional growth. They are private equity backed by a very reputable private equity house, who have circa 40 portfolio companies.

Your new role

Reporting to the General Counsel and based in the City, this role is a newly created position within the generalist commercial capacity. They are going through acquisitions at the moment to assist with their growth trajectory, however, this will be a more commercially focussed role, particularly within the construction capacity. You will contribute to the work of the in-house legal team, with a focus on non-contentious construction. You will also work on a range of projects, including a GDPR project the team is currently handling.

Some key duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Draft, review and negotiate engineering and construction contracts
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel
  • Dealing with collateral warranties
  • Assist on projects within the team, working towards deadlines
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders
  • Working with the General Counsel to execute legal policies and strategies
  • Oversee the work of a paralegal within the team.

This is an opportunity for a driven and capable lawyer to play a key part during a very busy and action-packed time for the team. The role is of a progressive nature and will be a part of a small team, in a generalist capacity. You will be working with a fantastic General Counsel and you will need to be able to be autonomous within the role, whilst also playing an integral part of the legal team. It is a genuinely exciting time to be joining such a fast-growing organisation.

What you'll need to succeed

Ideally, you will be at least 4+ PQE (guideline only - strong candidates with lower PQE may be considered, as well as more senior candidates). You will also have experience in non-contentious construction. The ideal candidate will be articulate and capable of contributing to the team/ having an impact and thinking innovatively. Experience in GDPR would also be a plus, but is not essential. This position is ideal for an exceptional and high-performing legal professional looking for their next senior role in construction law.

What you'll get in return

Alongside a basic salary of £90k-£100k, you will enjoy a hybrid working policy of 2-3 days in the office per week, working as part of the legal team within a major and innovative infrastructure company.
