About the Company - IPC EMEA, the purchasing and supply chain organisation for Subway Franchisees in Europe, has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Legal Commercial Counsel (FTC 12-months) to join our inhouse Legal team.

About the Role - The legal team supports IPC EMEA’s vision by being a business enabler to facilitate the development and delivery of enterprise-wide goals and to defend and protect the interests of the business and its’ members. This role will be a trusted legal adviser to the business responsible for:

  • Commercial contracts
  • New business development arrangements and contracts
  • Inhouse projects e.g. technology projects

The successful candidate will need to be a qualified practising UK solicitor, ideally with a mix of practice and inhouse experience.

Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with the internal stakeholders to advise upon, draft, negotiate and execute a wide variety of commercial contracts including framework agreements, purchase contracts, distribution agreements, services contracts, trial contracts, IT contracts, NDA’s, letters of intent, termination notices
  • Advising the business on a wide range of legal issues including intellectual property, information technology, data, governance and compliance
  • Drive self-service programme by delivering tools to support the business, including templates, protocols, guidance documents and delivery of legal training
  • Proactive in driving continuous improvement to create efficiencies and mitigate risk by simplifying processes, defining roles & responsibilities and championing best practice
  • Having policies, processes and practices in place to ensure good governance and compliance at all levels of the organisation
  • Identifying and managing legal risk for the business and its’ members
  • Providing sound and solution-orientated legal advice to all functions

Required Skills

  • Understanding and experience of corporate transactions
  • Commercially astute and technically excellent commercial professional with broad and substantial experience
  • Experience in retail, FMCG, supply chain & procurement or fast paced environment (with an international footprint being an advantage)
  • Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
  • Ability to give clear and pragmatic advice
  • Embraces change and the unknown
  • Broad technical knowledge of all aspects of commercial law, including contract law, agency, competition law, data protection
  • Critical thinker when approaching tasks and initiatives
