The role:

The Senior Legal Assistant will work closely with other Senior Legal Assistants within the team and provide cover as necessary. They will be supported by the document production team, which produces letters and documents through manual transcription, digital dictation, and voice recognition.

The Senior Legal Assistant will have client contact and should be able to handle client enquiries effectively, keeping themselves updated on matters in their area(s).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all necessary typing/word-processing accurately and within deadlines.
  • Support the Private Client Department and undertake work across all areas of the company, providing cover to other Senior Legal Assistants as directed by the Team Leader.
  • Maintain high levels of client and company confidentiality.
  • Transcribe information from manual documents or audio.
  • Support other offices as capacity allows, as directed by the Team Leader.
  • Take telephone calls on behalf of fee earners and convey messages promptly.
  • Arrange appointments as required.
  • Prioritize work based on urgency, adopting the oldest/most urgent first principle.
  • Ensure efficient recording of information on the appropriate file management system.
  • Create and maintain accurate records.
  • Be flexible and work as part of a team.
  • Provide Reception cover as needed.

Hours of Work: 9.00 am – 5.15 pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Spalding
Salary: £24,650

Person Specification:

Qualifications: Secretarial qualification, equivalent experience, or a Law Graduate.

Knowledge: Clear understanding of confidentiality/Data Protection, proficient in Microsoft Office, understanding of Private Client work, experience with SOS Connect, and knowledge across different areas of law.

Skills: Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, structured and organized, excellent telephone manner, accurate and efficient, typing speed of at least 50 WPM, proactive and tactful, highly supportive and efficient.

Attributes: Willingness and ability to learn quickly across various practice areas including Family, Personal Injury, Residential Conveyancing, Commercial Property, Private Client, Employment Law, Litigation, and Corporate Law. Positive attitude, enthusiasm, flexibility to meet company demands.
