Job description

Senior Legal Assistant - Childcare

Contract: 6-Months with view to extend
Pay Rate: £20-£30 - Negotiable DOE
Fully Remote

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a committed and experienced legal service that plays a crucial role in supporting the Council's work to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children. The successful candidate will be a vital part of the team, providing practical legal support to solicitors and taking responsibility for a caseload of legal work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Legal Assistant, you will:

  1. Prepare and maintain trial bundles and court documentation.
  2. Draft applications and routine correspondence.
  3. Liaise with witnesses, solicitors, and professionals within and outside the council.
  4. Support solicitors in progressing child protection cases efficiently and effectively.
  5. Provide assistance across a range of legal matters within the Child Protection team.

Key Requirements:
  1. ILEX Level 3 / LPC qualification or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated experience within legal support roles, ideally in public law or childcare legal services.
  3. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
  4. Capacity to build and maintain effective working relationships across council departments and external agencies.
  5. Flexible and creative approach to problem-solving under pressure.
