At ITV, the M&E legal team sits at the heart of ITV's commercial business, advising on legal matters across the Media & Entertainment division, enabling you to have a real impact on your career, on our viewers and our strategic ambitions.

The role...

Our highly skilled Media & Entertainment team at ITV is looking for a Senior Legal Advisor to join us. Reporting to the Head of Legal & Business Affairs for the Commercial Legal, Media & Entertainment division, you will provide top-tier legal support for ITV's revenue-generating activities related to content and programming. Your responsibilities will cover a wide range of areas, including airtime, sponsorship, product placement, brand partnerships and the ad-based commercialisation of digital content on third-party platforms. You will also be involved in advertising strategy, planning, and measurement, ensuring legal guidance is seamlessly integrated across all revenue streams.

Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Lead negotiations and contracting for high-value, high-materiality agreements.
• Supervise junior lawyers and paralegals.
• Stay current on legal and commercial developments, particularly in airtime trading and ITV's Media & Entertainment dynamics.
• Ensure compliance with regulations like the Bribery Act and Modern Slavery Act, assisting in the development of compliance processes.
• Act as a key contact for the ITV Commercial team on content revenue, supporting new areas of content exploitation.
• While not overseeing "rights in" activities for programming or channels, collaborate closely with legal heads in those areas.

Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)...

• Minimum 4 years PQE lawyer with suitable experience from an in-house or private practice environment ideally in the media and advertising space.
• A commercially minded lawyer with significant experience of working in a busy, deadline driven environment, managing a high number of competing priorities.
• Some management experience and comfortable operating within a matrix management structure.
• An understanding of commercial drivers for the ITV businesses.

Other things we're looking for (key criteria)...

• Comfortable providing complex and time critical legal advice in a user friendly way at a senior level.
• Knowledge of the way in which commercial airtime is traded and the CRR mechanism would be an advantage.
• An exceptional team player who can command respect at all levels of the business areas they support.
• An excellent communicator who can develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
• A collaborator with key ITV teams, including compliance, other ITV legal and business affairs teams, finance, HR, Cyber, Risk, Data and Technology.
• This role would not suit anyone with purely content acquisition/ commissioning experience.
