Job summary

Baltic Recruitment is seeking a Permanent Head of Accounts/Legal Accounts Manager for a multi-office law firm in the North East. You will oversee the Accounts Department, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain strong financial controls.

The role suits an experienced Legal Accounts Manager, Legal Cashier, or Head of Accounts with solid solicitors’ client accounts knowledge, VAT and payroll, and staff development. Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm; salary to be agreed.

Qualifications

• Essential: substantial experience in a solicitors' or law firm's Accounts Department.
• Strong knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules and client/office account procedures.
• Hands-on experience with client money, transfers, receipts, payments and financial controls.
• Experience maintaining client ledgers and matter balances; legal billing and allocations.
• Experience of VAT and payroll; supervising an accounts team.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the firm's Accounts Department and day-to-day operation.
• Maintain financial controls and regulatory compliance; develop the accounts team.
• Liaise with Managing Partner/Partners and support multi-office operations.
