Overview

An exciting opportunity within the Gloucestershire Leg Ulcer Service for a Band 7 Senior Leg Ulcer Specialist Nurse. We are seeking an enthusiastic Registered Nurse with a desire to lead the current Gloucestershire Leg Ulcer team. You should have substantial post registration experience and extensive knowledge and skills in the management of venous disease and leg ulcer care.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate effective leadership skills required to support a team of registered practitioners in the progression of the service and delivery of enhanced practice. The Gloucestershire and Swindon Vascular Network are supported by the Gloucestershire Leg Ulcer Service, with the specialist nurses offering enhanced care. The specialist nursing team independently review, assess and treat both in-patients and out-patients across Gloucestershire.

The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the well-established and highly experienced leg ulcer team, and therefore will be required to have the necessary skills and competencies to undertake the clinical assessments and treatment plans for this complex group of service users.

Responsibilities
  • Lead training locally within the service for pre-registered and registered practitioners (Monday to Friday working pattern details).
  • Provide clinical supervision of junior colleagues within the team as required.
  • Support the continuing professional development of the specialist nurses within the team.
  • Ensure governance through review of local policies, patient information, risk assessments, audits and research opportunities.
  • Work independently and as part of the MDT to deliver high quality care to a complex group of service users, with support from the Vascular Lead Nurse, Vascular Consultants and current Leg Ulcer team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse with substantial post-registration experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in the management of venous disease and leg ulcer care.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to support a team in service progression and delivery of enhanced practice.
Working Pattern

Additional working pattern details: Monday to Friday. The Senior Leg Ulcer Specialist Nurse will be expected to lead training locally within the service for pre-registered and registered practitioners.
