Senior Lecturer (Urban Planning)

Full time (35 hrs/wk), permanent

Remote place of work

Salary range £50,000 to £60,000 pa plus benefits

This is a key academic position within the School of the Built Environment, supporting the development, delivery, and monitoring of postgraduate and undergraduate modules within built environment education in a wholly online institution. You will:

• Be an active part of the academic community at UCEM, taking on leadership roles, sitting on committees, and mentoring staff
• Provide high-quality learning, teaching, and assessment within your subject discipline

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:

• Lead and coordinate the MSc Urban Planning programme
• Demonstrate excellence in urban planning theory, policy, and design
• Support and promote the integration of new programmes into UCEM’s existing portfolio both academically and operationally
• Contribute to UCEM’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) submissions, including impact cases and journal publications
• Engage with the Royal Town Planning Institute to develop a timeline for MSc Urban Planning accreditation

Our main requirements:

• Postgraduate teaching qualification such as PGCHE or willingness to obtain it
• Undergraduate degree in urban planning, architecture, geography, or a related field
• PhD in planning or a related discipline, or equivalent senior professional experience
• Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI), or the intention to obtain it
• Relevant industry experience in built environment practice or research/CPD/tutoring experience in town planning, especially in digital and data environments
• Understanding of current developments in town planning and built environment practice or education
