Job description
Overview

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Senior Lecturer based in the Doctorate in Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training team. The position has been introduced to enable flexible delivery within a portfolio of courses and, where appropriate, across portfolios. The post holder will undertake a leadership role in relation to an aspect of course delivery (e.g., module leadership; assessment; recruitment) and will contribute to the development and organisation of research in the M80, Doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, which is accredited by the ACP. The post holder will work flexibly across a range of programmes to provide teaching, supervision and tuition to master's and where appropriate, doctoral students, and will be involved in recruitment and assessment processes and assist flexibly in all aspects of course delivery within the portfolio and other portfolios where relevant.

Responsibilities
  • General: adhere to all Trust-wide policies and procedures including Equal Opportunities, Risk Management, Health and Safety, Confidentiality and Data Protection Act compliance. Support equality, diversity and inclusion in employment and services.
  • Comply with the professional code of conduct of any relevant professional body; the Trust will take appropriate action when codes of conduct are breached.
  • Fulfill duties within the grade and undertake other duties as discussed with the Team Manager / Service Manager.
  • Participate in regular job description reviews in light of changing service requirements.
  • Engage in teaching, supervision and tuition for master’s and doctoral students as required, across the portfolio and other portfolios where relevant.
  • Involve in recruitment and assessment processes and support course delivery as needed.
Qualifications and Experience

Experience

  • Substantial experience of teaching students in higher education.
  • Post-qualification experience as required by the relevant professional and regulatory body.
  • Experience of academic research and supervision, as required by the Trust and/or relevant validating body.

Desirable

  • Understanding and experience of research and supervision of projects addressing equity, equality, diversity, inclusion, disadvantage, discrimination, etc.
  • Experience of doctoral supervision, preferably with one or more completions.

Qualifications

  • Appropriately qualified to teach the discipline at the required academic level.
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent.
  • UK recognised qualification in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with children/young people.

Desirable

  • A PhD or PD in a related field.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and ability to convey complex ideas in teaching and learning environments.
  • Capacity to engage students from a wide range of educational, cultural and social backgrounds and ensure equity, diversity and inclusion across all aspects of the role.
  • Ability to manage own time and plan workload of administration team members effectively to ensure completion of tasks.
