Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor (Teaching & Scholarship) in Accounting

The role

The University of Bristol Business School is inviting applications for an outstanding Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Accountingon a full time and open-ended basis.

This role is focussed on teaching and scholarship only. Therefore, candidates must be fully committed to the delivery of high-quality education and student experience. You will contribute to our existing undergraduate and postgraduate units, help us to develop new units and programmes, and provide academic leadership (for example, through leading a programme). Importantly, candidates must be able to connect academic theory to practice and to engage our students through innovative and impactful curricula.

Ongoing scholarship, for example in the form of pedagogical research, is important to this role and we would expect candidates to be aware of the latest research in their field and be able to bring this to our students. This role offers a well-defined career pathway and is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of leading practices in research, impact and education.

What will you be doing?

You will be involved in a range of education and research activities in the school in a highly collegial and collaborative manner as follows:

  • Teaching and marking at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels
  • Contributing to curriculum design, development and enhancement
  • Acting as personal tutor to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students
  • Supervising MSc students
  • Demonstrating excellent citizenship and leadership in the school and contributing to the wider University.
You should apply if
  • You are passionate about undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in accounting.
  • You enjoy engaging students through research and theory and bringing that to life through practical examples and experiences
  • You hold a PhD in a relevant subject area.
  • You have excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills.
  • You can demonstrate awareness of the academic needs of all kinds of students (e.g. undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral).
  • You have experience of leadership responsibility.
