The Department of Psychology is a thriving, research-intensive department, conducting world-class research across many areas of psychology, including (but not limited to) typical and atypical development across the lifespan, mental health and wellbeing, organisational psychology, behavioural economics, memory, decision making, and cognitive neuroscience. We have excellent laboratory infrastructure to support our research, including dedicated EEG and TMS laboratories, a state-of-the-art baby-lab, eye-tracking and psychophysiology recording suits, and over a dozen additional lab spaces for our varied research activities. 82.5% of our research outputs are classified as internationally excellent or world-leading, placing the department well within the top third of Psychology departments in the UK for research quality (REF 2021).
We are proud to be recognized for our high standards of teaching by our students, who rated the Department within the top 3 Psychology Departments in London and the top 25 in the UK for overall student satisfaction in the recent National Student Survey (NSS 2023).
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate with extensive experience as both a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and Programme Director of PWP training to lead an exciting new programme and associated clinic. They will help build the programme, take it through accreditation, and lead the delivery of the MSc Psychological Therapies. They will also contribute to the development of an innovative Health and Wellbeing Clinic with PWP at its core.
The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to the School’s educational activities, in line with the Education and Student Strategy, through leading curriculum and educational development that integrates scholarship and professional/clinical activities. They will supervise and mentor the work of staff, colleagues, and students.
They will develop and utilise a range of learning and teaching methodologies informed by evidence-based pedagogical and EDI principles that foster positive learning environments for all students.
The appointed candidate will have a higher degree, a PWP or CBT qualification, and a teaching qualification. They will also have experience of delivering PWP education and training, ideally as a programme director or senior educator for PWP education. A breadth and depth of specialist PWP knowledge is required, as is an understanding of the accreditation process of the BPS and quality assurance within a university setting.
