About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lecturer to join us to lead & further develop our new MSc Clinical Psychotherapy at King’s College London (KCL). This programme launched in September 2024, and its popularity means we are now seeking a Senior Lecturer to join a small team working to deliver and develop the programme further.

The appointment will be made at Senior Lecturer level on the Education & Research pathway, although given the importance of the Programme Lead role, it is expected that 60% of the postholder’s time will be devoted to educational leadership and delivery, and 40% to research and scholarship. On average, this would be the equivalent of three days a week spent on education. This will be taken into consideration in probation, performance, and development reviews and promotion applications.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated colleague who can make a distinctive contribution to education, but who also has a strong portfolio of related research and a desire to develop that. You should have excellent teaching and communication skills and be able to inspire & inform students.

As post holder, you will provide educational leadership for the MSc Clinical Psychotherapy. You will then work with other colleagues to deliver the programme, providing leadership and mentorship as appropriate to the wider teaching team, and delivering teaching yourself as part of the programme. You should be able to demonstrate relevant experience of curriculum development and assessment design, as well as teaching skills and an ability to supervise student research dissertations. You will also be able to demonstrate educational leadership and a commitment to excellence in student experience.

In this role, you will build and lead a research programme in an area related to clinical psychotherapy that complements the vibrant interdisciplinary research in the Psychological Medicine Department. This will include producing impactful peer-reviewed publications and other high-quality research outputs and securing external funding as principal investigator, as well as collaborating with other research groups to develop a highly respected, international research programme in an area relevant to clinical psychotherapy. This will include productive collaborative links in academia, & you will contribute to determining research direction in areas related to clinical psychotherapy to ensure King's College London is at the forefront of the field. Supervise, on a day-to-day basis, postgraduate research students and/or post-doctoral staff carrying out research, and any technical staff assisting with the research.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

£64,139 to £73,529 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
