About Chester Law School

The Chester Law School was established in 2005 and offers a successful range of undergraduate (LLB (Hons)) programmes, with the LLB (Hons) (Single Honours) being the largest. The school is developing its curriculum to meet the changing needs for legal qualification. It has about 350 students per year. The Law School has a growing research community with interests in Social and Criminal Justice, Equality and Diversity, Private and Public International Law, Social Welfare Law including Legal History, Family Law, Education Law, Sports Law, Medical Law, and Legal Education. We aim to consolidate and extend our research portfolio.

The School's nationally acclaimed Pro Bono activities include the Chester Community Law Project, providing students with opportunities to offer guidance on legal matters affecting schools, housing, benefits, and the elderly, alongside the University of Chester Legal Advice Clinic.

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Lecturer in Law on a fixed-term basis of 10 months (maternity cover). The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Participate in the delivery and leadership of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Civil Justice and Practice, particularly:
  • Conveyancing
  • Equity and Trusts
  • Child and Family Law
  • Private Client matters (such as Wills and Probate, Estate Management, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection)
  • Other areas including Obligations

Develop and implement innovative teaching and learning initiatives.

Provide a supportive learning environment to help students develop graduate-level and subject-specific skills.

Contribute to embedding legal and graduate skills within the undergraduate curriculum.

Participate in postgraduate teaching, research, and supervision.

Assist in developing the curriculum and programmes of the Division.
