Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London is seeking a Head of Clinical Engineering to lead medical equipment services across the Trust. This senior role shapes procurement, maintenance and lifecycle planning for ~27,000 items and will report to executive level.

You will manage budgets, external providers and regulatory compliance while developing long-term strategies to support patient safety and clinical services. A first degree and NHS leadership experience are required.

Qualifications

• First degree or NHS management equivalent, with evidence at this level.
• Master's degree in leadership, management or relevant subject, or equivalent experience.
• Postgraduate management qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Knowledge of medical equipment regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-term strategies for procurement, operation and replacement of medical equipment.
• Deliver the Trust's capital and sub-capital medical equipment programme.
• Ensure medical equipment is procured, installed, maintained and operated safely.
• Lead asset optimisation and the maintenance programme for ~27,000 items.
• Oversee outsourced maintenance contracts and monitor performance.
• Ensure adherence to Quality Management System and regulatory framework.
• Manage responses to medical device safety alerts and incidents.
• Provide training to clinical staff for safe device use.
• Assess equipment requirements and opportunities for redeployment and standardisation.
• Advise clinicians and senior leaders on equipment strategies; report to Board and Executives.
