Role/Department:
We are seeking an experienced UNIX/Linux Hands-On Architect to lead the design, implementation, and road mapping of our enterprise-scale UNIX/Linux infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a proven track record in architecting scalable, secure, and compliant systems in hybrid cloud environments. This role requires strategic thinking combined with hands-on expertise to evolve our UNIX/Linux infrastructure and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architecture and Design: Develop and maintain a long-term vision, create detailed designs, ensure adherence to standards, and collaborate with teams.
- Strategic Planning: Identify emerging technologies and propose initiatives to enhance efficiency, security, and scalability.
- Roadmap Development: Create multi-year evolution plans, plan hardware/software upgrades, and align with business goals.
- Standards and Best Practices: Establish and enforce configuration, security, and management standards; maintain documentation.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security measures, ensure compliance with regulations, and conduct audits.
- Scalability and Performance: Design scalable infrastructure, monitor performance, and plan capacity.
- Documentation and Knowledge Management: Maintain comprehensive documentation and knowledge bases.
- Automation and DevOps: Drive automation, implement Infrastructure as Code, and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Design HA solutions, develop DR plans, and conduct testing.
- Monitoring and Support: Develop monitoring solutions, support complex issues, and evaluate vendors.
- Team Leadership and Mentoring: Provide technical leadership, conduct training, and stay updated on industry trends.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience in UNIX/Linux administration and architecture
- Deep knowledge of enterprise UNIX/Linux distributions
- Strong understanding of networking, storage, and virtualization
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl)
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus)
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications like RHCE, LFCE
