Job summary

A leading global financial institution is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join their International Consumer Bank team. You will be responsible for managing AWS cloud infrastructure and improving the developer experience within a diverse and inclusive team. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience in software engineering, a strong understanding of DevOps, and proficiency in cloud technologies. This position offers an opportunity to play a key role in transforming digital banking in the UK.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and proficient advanced experience.
• Experience developing and maintaining applications in the public cloud (we use AWS).
• Experience managing public cloud infrastructure using infra-as-code technologies (we use Terraform).
• Good knowledge of Kubernetes clusters' operations (we use EKS).
• Good knowledge of programming using a modern language (Java/Python/Go).
• Experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines that covers the full SDLC.
• Excellent understanding of DevOps principles and SDLC best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve our AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure the bank's 24/7 operation.
• Maintain, design and improve technologies and processes within the infrastructure space.
• Maintain and build a cloud platform for application developers.
• Manage and interact with vendors and other areas of the business.

Job responsibilities

• Maintain and improve our AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure the bank's 24/7 operation with a focus on stability, performance, security and compliance
• Maintain, design and improve technologies and processes within the infrastructure space, such as EKS/Istio deployment and management and paving of AWS accounts
• Maintain and build a cloud platform for application developers and provide support to improve their SDLC and developer experience
• Manage and interact with vendors and other areas of the business to plan improvements and coordinate project efforts
• Participate in on-call rota

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and proficient advanced experience
• Experience developing and maintaining applications in the public cloud (we use AWS)
• Experience managing public cloud infrastructure using infra-as-code technologies (we use Terraform)
• Good knowledge of Kubernetes clusters' operations (we use EKS)
• Good knowledge of programming using a modern language (Java/Python/Go)
