Job Description

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, specifically in the Payments Technology division, your role will be pivotal in an agile team. You will be responsible for the enhancement, creation, and delivery of high-quality technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your tasks will include developing essential technology solutions across multiple domains to support the firm's business goals.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, thinking beyond routine approaches to solve technical problems.
• Develop secure, high-quality production code, review, and debug code written by others.
• Identify opportunities to automate or eliminate recurring issues to improve operational stability.
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials.
• Drive awareness and adoption of new technologies within communities of practice across Software Engineering.
• Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
• Expand capabilities and adoption of the modern API gateway for Payments Web APIs.
• Ensure stability, security, and scalability of the API infrastructure by paying attention to non-functional requirements.
• Participate actively in a global agile team environment.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Formal training or certification in API Management Platform concepts with advanced experience.
• Practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages.
• Experience with automation and continuous delivery methods.
• Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications and technical processes (e.g., cloud, AI, ML, mobile).
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and IT systems.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies.
• Professional experience with API management tools like APIGEE, Kong, or Mulesoft.
• Strong understanding of OpenAPI Specification (OAS) for RESTful APIs.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• AWS services such as ECS, EKS, MKS.
• Experience with Kong API Gateway.
• Experience with performance and soak testing.
• Programming skills in Golang and Lua.
