Salary: Up to £69,725 + Paid Overtime

Job Type: Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join one of the UK’s most forward-thinking secure tech ventures — a specialist digital innovation unit launched by a Big Four consultancy. We blend the creativity and autonomy of a start-up with the stability and backing of a major global player. With a strong public sector mission and a secure-by-design mindset, we're looking for a Lead Software Engineer to help shape the next generation of large-scale digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build secure, scalable, modern software platforms using C#/.NET and related technologies.

• Lead technical delivery and provide architectural guidance across complex delivery environments.

• Guide and mentor engineering teams across distributed delivery models.

• Work closely with Product and DevOps – but stay in a pure engineering role.

• Contribute to a high-performance engineering culture with autonomy, trust, and real-world impact.

Key Skills & Expertise

• Expertise in C#/.NET Core and modern full-stack development (React, Angular, etc. a plus).

• Skilled with containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes), DevOps tooling, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience in secure, performance-critical environments.

• Eligible for UK Security Clearance.

• Strong problem-solving ability, code quality focus, and team leadership experience.

• Previous work in secure public sector or central government programmes.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Experience with logging and monitoring stacks (e.g. DataDog, Prometheus, ELK).

• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and shift-left testing approaches.

Benefits Package

• Paid overtime – contractually included (up to 200 hours/year)

• Flexible hybrid working – 8 days per month onsite

• Secure, career-focused environment — not a traditional consulting role

• Dedicated learning & development budget

• Purpose-built Leeds digital delivery hub with cutting-edge engineering tools

• Clear progression within a rapidly growing digital venture
