This role focuses on high availability, GDPS-based disaster recovery on IBM Z, automation, and collaboration with clients and platform teams to modernize, secure, and optimize our global mainframe environments

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in infrastructure engineering for mainframes, including performance assessments.
• Expertise with IBM Z, z/OS, GDPS disaster recovery.
• Familiarity with mainframe automation and scripting (REXX, JCL).

As a Senior Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the IP-SPS-MMC organization, youapply deep knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Job responsibilities

• Applies advanced technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to the design, implementation, and management of high-availability and disaster recovery solutions on the IBM Z platform.
• Drives workstreams and projects focused on GDPS (Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex) architecture, implementation, and automation across multiple mainframe environments.
• Collaborates with other platform teams to architect and implement changes required to modernize infrastructure, improve resilience, and resolve complex technical issues.
• Develops and customizes automation scripts and integrates with mainframe automation tools to streamline operations and enhance system reliability.
• Leads complex projects, provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members, and manages vendor and client relationships.
• Coordinates and assists with deployment testing, failover, and recovery scenarios, ensuring robust documentation and reporting.
• Engages directly with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Deep knowledge of infrastructure engineering, including mainframe hardware, networking, storage engineering, automation, and performance assessments.
• In-depth expertise in IBM Z platform technologies, including z/OS, Parallel Sysplex, Logical Partitions (LPARs), and GDPS disaster recovery solutions.
• Proficiency in mainframe automation and scripting languages (e.g., REXX, JCL) and tools such as NetView and Tivoli System Automation.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, FICON, SAN) within mainframe environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage client relationships, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues and identify performance bottlenecks.
• Drives to continue to develop technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of the product.
• Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience in a client-facing or consulting capacity, including requirements analysis, presentations, and leading technical workshops.
• Experience with IBM DS8000 storage systems.
• Experience coordinating disaster recovery and high-availability testing and documentation.
