About the role

As a Supermarket Assistant (Senior Lead Driver Assessor), you'll work with the wider shop team to provide the distinct customer service we're known for and collaborate on various shop-keeping tasks. You'll also oversee the e-commerce operations across the branch.

Note: Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or over.

Additional pay: You will receive a shift premium for hours worked between 22:00 and 06:00, paid at the role's minimum pay range.

Key Responsibilities

This varied role involves:

  • Overseeing efficient picking operations for e-Commerce.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements with management support.
  • Coaching and training the team on all e-Commerce tasks, including maintaining high driving standards that represent the Waitrose Brand.
  • Participating in the interview process for new drivers, assessing their driving skills.
  • Acting as a role model for excellent customer service.

Supporting shop operations includes:

  • Stock replenishment to keep shelves full and products correctly placed.
  • Fulfilling online customer orders for delivery.
  • Reducing wastage through product diligence and markdowns.
  • Supporting checkout, Click & Collect, and on-demand orders.
  • Maintaining a safe, tidy working environment.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Valid B-Category UK manual driving licence with no endorsements.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead, train, and coach drivers.
  • Good time management and record keeping.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, capable of working independently.
  • No blameworthy collisions in the past two years.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Experience in a driving role, especially with chilled vehicles.
