Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is hiring a Senior Lead Software Engineer for the International Consumer Bank. You will lead backend engineering as part of a distributed, diverse team, shaping engineering culture and delivering high-quality banking software.

Qualifications

• Recent hands-on back-end software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Java and modern back-end frameworks.
• Experience with testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end).
• Experience with cloud technologies and distributed systems, RESTful APIs and web technologies.
• Knowledge of messaging frameworks.
• Experience operating and securing mission-critical software.
• Understanding of relational data stores.
• Ability to coach others on coding practices and design principles.
• Stakeholder management and prioritization across streams.
• Leadership beyond own team (guilds/chapters) and cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Build solutions that avoid single points of failure using scalable architectural patterns.
• Develop secure code to protect customers and systems.
• Investigate and fix issues promptly to prevent recurrence.
• Support products throughout their lifecycle, including production and incident management.
• Champion a healthy engineering culture and drive productivity improvements.
• Contribute to engineering career ladders, IC expectations, and responsibilities.
• Drive improvements to job descriptions, interview processes, and assessment rubrics.
• Establish communities of practice and office-hour sessions across the organization.
• Contribute to reusable code frameworks with clear ownership and governance.
