Fuse Energy is hiring a Senior/Lead Backend Engineer to build the core digital infrastructure for a fast-moving AI-first energy company. You will own systems end-to-end, from design through production, and work across billing, trading, and data workloads.

Responsibilities

• Own systems end-to-end, from design and architecture through to production.
• Build the inference layer for AI workloads and migrate workloads onto GPU infrastructure.
• Support continuous recalculation for settlement data as new data becomes available.
• Develop real-time billing engine with per-customer ordering and pricing based on half-hourly data.
• Extend trading and hedging systems across forward markets and exchanges.

We're hiring a Senior/Lead Backend Engineer to build the core digital infrastructure for a next-generation energy company. You'll work closely with product across the full back-end and engineer backend systems that are second to none.

Responsibilities

• Own systems end-to-end, from design and architecture through to production, with a high degree of autonomy as an individual contributor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Building the inference layer for our AI workloads, serving millions of prompts per day across customer support and meter-reading OCR, and migrate workloads onto our own GPU infrastructure
• Working on one of the core data challenges in energy: settlement data can arrive months after delivery, requiring systems that support continuous recalculation as new data becomes available
• Developing our real-time billing engine, including per-customer ordering and idempotency, audit trails, and pricing based on half-hourly meter data
• Building and extending our trading and hedging systems, covering forward markets, portfolio optimisation, and reconciliation against exchanges we trade on directly
