Job summary

Fuse Energy is seeking a Design Engineer to lead the design and optimisation of its infrastructure projects (Solar, BESS, Wind, Data Centres) across global markets from early development to handover.

You will create construction-ready packages, improve performance and cost, produce drawings and specs, and support grid connections and procurement. This role offers biannual bonus, private health insurance, and expensed tech, with opportunities to impact renewable energy projects worldwide.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, renewable energy or related field.
• 3–6+ years of project design experience in relevant sectors.
• Experience with AutoCAD, PVsyst or equivalents for technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Create designs of Fuse Energy’s infrastructure projects from layouts to construction-ready packages.
• Optimise designs for performance, cost and buildability.
• Produce site layouts, drawings, schedules, specifications and core engineering documentation.
• Support site feasibility, planning submissions and technical due diligence on new projects and acquisitions
• Support grid connection design and reviewing grid studies with external consultants, in line with local requirements
• Produce bills of quantities and give technical input to procurement
• Handover complete, de-risked design packages to EPC teams, and feed construction feedback back into future designs
• Drive standardisation of designs, templates and processes across projects and markets

The Design Engineer will lead the design and optimisation of our infrastructure projects (Solar, BESS, Wind, Gas-Peak, Data Centres) across the globe (UK, Ireland, Spain, USA, Australia), from early-stage development through to construction handover.

Responsibilities

• Creating the designs of Fuse Energy’s Infrastructure Projects, from layouts and system configuration through to construction-ready packages
• Optimising designs for performance, cost and buildability
• Producing site layouts, drawings, schedules, specifications and core engineering documentation
• Supporting site feasibility, planning submissions and technical due diligence on new projects and acquisitions
• Supporting grid connection design and reviewing grid studies with external consultants, in line with local requirements
• Producing bills of quantities and giving technical input to procurement
• Handing over complete, de-risked design packages to EPC teams, and feeding construction feedback back into future designs
• Driving standardisation of designs, templates and processes across projects and markets

• A degree or equivalent experience in engineering (electrical, mechanical, civil, renewable energy or a related field)
• 3 to 6+ years of project design experience, ideally on solar, BESS, wind, gas or data centre projects
• Experience producing technical drawings, layouts and engineering documentation using standard design tools (for example AutoCAD, PVsyst or equivalents)
• Knowledge of grid connection requirements in one of our markets
• Experience working with EPC contractors
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to optimise a design for both performance and cost
• Clear communication with engineers, contractors and non-technical colleagues
• Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and markets quickly
