East Cambridgeshire District Council in Ely is seeking a confident, experienced Senior Lawyer to join our Legal Services team. You will provide high quality, timely legal advice across a varied local government caseload, including conveyancing, leases, planning obligations, contracts and litigation.

You will be admitted solicitor or CILEX Fellow, capable of advising officers, elected members and senior leaders, and you will work with the Director of Legal Services to deliver a comprehensive,

• Qualified solicitor or CILEX Fellow with strong local government law experience.
• Experience in conveyancing, leases, planning obligations, litigation and contracts.
• Able to provide clear, pragmatic advice to officers and Members.
• Politically restricted and able to maintain confidentiality.

Responsabilidades

• Provide accurate, timely legal advice to officers, Members and committees.
• Draft and negotiate legal documents and contracts.
• Advise on planning obligations under section 106.
• Prepare civil and criminal litigation and instruct barristers.
• Represent the council at inquiries, tribunals and meetings.
• Manage workload independently and prioritize deadlines.
• Contribute to policy development within Legal Services.
