THE TEAM
Addleshaw Goddard's Financial Regulation Team is one of the largest in the UK, with a mix of lawyers and compliance professionals split over Leeds, London, and Scotland. The team is headed by Rosanna Bryant and includes 10 other Partners with around 21 fee earners.
This role is within our regulated lending and banking (RLB) offering. The RLB Team is tier 1 ranked in Chambers and Partners. Chambers 2025 notes that, "Addleshaw Goddard has real strength and depth in the consumer finance space."
Our clients include leading clearing banks, challenger banks, building societies, credit card providers, asset finance companies, debt collectors, debt purchasers, debt management companies, brokers, home credit lenders, and point of sale finance providers. We also advise smaller niche lenders and financial services providers, such as private banks.
We provide regular publications to our clients to keep them updated on developments in the consumer finance industry. Addleshaw Goddard actively participates in trade associations and organizes the Regulated Lending and Banking Forum, which brings together industry and private practice specialists.
What To Expect In This Role
You will work closely with the RLB Partners and collaborate with other Managing Associates and Associates to deliver high-quality work to clients and help win new business. You may have opportunities for client secondments to build your skills and expertise further.

You will be involved in drafting customer-facing documentation, supporting client relationships, managing marketing materials, advising on legislative impacts, conducting compliance audits, interpreting legal requirements, assisting with FCA applications, and supporting enforcement actions.
YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
- You should have at least 5 years' experience advising on regulated lending and banking, including familiarity with the Consumer Credit Act, the Consumer Credit Sourcebook, and ideally the Mortgage Conduct of Business and Payment Services Regulations.
- You should have a genuine interest in this area and be proactive in growing your knowledge.
- Building strong client relationships and working well in a team are essential.
- A keen intellect and a commercial mindset are desirable, with the ability to provide pragmatic, tailored advice supporting both internal and external clients.
- You should be able to support complex transactions, coordinating with relevant fee earners as needed.
