We’re looking for a Senior Laser Welding Stack Manufacturing Engineer to be the go-to expert on thin stainless steel sheet laser welding within stack production and development. In this high-impact role, you’ll drive strategic initiatives, optimise processes, and lead improvement projects that deliver measurable results. You’ll also ensure robust execution, inspection, and maintenance of existing laser welding processes and tooling, while playing a pivotal role in new product development and seamless transitions from R&D to production. Expect to mentor junior engineers, collaborate across functions and with external partners, and shape best practices that enhance performance, reduce costs, and improve durability. You’ll operate autonomously on complex challenges, applying Six Sigma, Lean, SPC, and risk assessment tools (PFMEA, DFM/A, DRBFM) to lead process development, technology transfer, and equipment specification.

Knowledge and skills required for the role:
  • BEng/MEng Mechanical and or Manufacturing Engineering or another relevant field
  • Several years proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer
  • Ideally industrial process expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Laser technology and theory (Fibre, scanned etc)
  • Fixturing for laser welding (clamping, magnetic chucks etc)
  • Programming G-Code and use of CAM software
  • Low pressure leak testing regimes
  • Experience using xray, cross sections and CT scans for verification and Quality control of laser welded samples
  • Clear communicator at all levels, ability to contest and influence cross-functionality
  • Ability to think creatively and pursue opportunities for innovation
  • Guides others in resolving complex issues in specialised area based on existing solutions and procedures
  • Serve as an expert within own discipline
  • Trains / mentors colleagues with less experience
  • May lead function teams or projects and serves as a best practice/quality resource
  • Bias to action and hands-on experience with parts and tools
