We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Senior Language Learning Tutor to support international students, and to develop skills and improve continuation rates of students from across the university. Working within the central Academic Skills Hub, this role delivers English language, writing and academic skills interventions. The role also advises on and promotes language learning to the BU community.
Ideally, the candidate will have postgraduate qualification and/or teaching qualification in English as a foreign language, English for Academic Practice, or equivalent. Experience in teaching English as a foreign language in an FE or HE environment, developing teaching materials, and assessment design and marking of students’ academic work is essential. It is desirable to have experience in coordinating English language and/or English for Academic Practice teaching activities; utilising a Virtual Learning Environment; and collecting and analysing evaluation data.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Academic Skills Hub by interacting proactively with staff and students and initiating new ideas. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. You will need to be self-motivated and a team player.
This is a permanent position and is available for 37 hours per week.
