About the Company

Our client is an award-winning design studio with a long-standing reputation for excellence in landscape architecture. They create resilient, intelligent, and imaginative outdoor spaces that improve lives, whether through intricate residential gardens or ambitious commercial and public realm schemes.

Their studio environment champions leadership, learning, and design integrity. They support each team member to lead confidently, think commercially, and contribute to a thriving design culture.

About the Role

This is more than a senior design position; it’s a leadership role for someone ready to guide teams, shape project delivery, and represent the studio’s values externally.

As a Senior Landscape Architect, you’ll lead medium to large-scale projects, oversee teams of 3–4, mentor junior designers, and ensure the highest design and technical standards. You'll play a critical role in the success of each project from initial vision through to completion on site.

Project Delivery & Oversight:

  • Lead projects from concept to completion
  • Define scopes of work and delegate effectively
  • Maintain project budgets, QA standards, and client satisfaction
  • Oversee drawings, contracts, and specifications
  • Attend design team meetings and client presentations
  • Monitor WIP, invoicing, and forecasts
  • Conduct site audits and provide technical guidance
  • Manage and develop junior team members
  • Set performance expectations and support capability-building
  • Lead resourcing and contribute to recruitment and studio development

Technical & Design Excellence:

  • Sign off on technical outputs and ensure consultant coordination
  • Guide detailing across soft and hard landscaping
  • Maintain CDM and Building Regs compliance
  • Provide accurate time and cost estimates

Commercial & Client Interface:

  • Prepare fee proposals and support bid writing
  • Build strong relationships with clients and contractors
  • Confidently represent the practice in meetings and correspondence
  • Monitor project profitability and advise proactively

Software proficiency:

  • AutoCAD, Keyscape
  • InDesign, Photoshop
  • SketchUp, Microsoft Office
  • NBS Landscape & Create
  • Birthday day off
  • Pension
  • Profitability bonus scheme
  • Chartership support and structured CPD
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Regular socials and design inspiration days

About You

You are a confident and collaborative leader who combines creative vision with rigorous technical delivery. You thrive under pressure, think commercially, and enjoy helping others grow.

Requirements:

  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI or equivalent)
  • Master’s in Landscape Architecture
  • 5–10 years' experience, ideally in both private and public sector work
  • Strong grasp of planning policy, construction detailing, and technical standards
  • Experience managing projects, teams, and client relationships
  • Excellent communication and visual presentation skills
