Senior Land Surveyor – Wakefield, UK
Accountable to the Associate Director. Full‑time, permanent role based at the Wakefield Office, with nationwide fieldwork and travel. Overnight stays in hotels may be required.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to working instructions from internal and external clients.
- Carry out topographical and associated geomatic surveys, using Total Station, 3D Laser Scanning, and GNSS observations.
- Post‑process data and produce outputs using survey software.
- Compile survey reports and documentation in conjunction with the Project & CAD Manager.
- Maintain vehicles and survey equipment in line with company expectations.
- Undertake internal and external training as part of personal professional development.
- Demonstrate a keen attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Provide training and mentoring to junior staff.
- Adhere to all RSK company policies and client policies and procedures on site.
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge, including British Standards and industry standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ industry experience in a similar role.
- Experience using Total Stations and GNSS is essential.
- Experience using 3D Laser Scanners preferred.
- Experience with n4ce and Trimble Realworks software desirable.
- CSCS card holder essential.
- Relevant NVQ or degree level qualification desirable.
- Ability to attend and pass internal and industry‑recognised external training courses.
- Excellent teamwork and independent working skills.
- Self‑motivated, solutions‑focused, organised with effective time management.
- Professional and polite manner at all times.
- Computer literate, familiar with data management tools and reporting software (Microsoft Office).
- Adaptable to variable working environments.
- Capability to work remotely around the UK, including from home where approved.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional overseas travel.
- Valid manual UK driving licence.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Unrestricted work rights in the United Kingdom.
