Senior Land & Estates Surveyor

ScottishPower, 320 St Vincent Street, Glasgow. G2 5AD

Salary from £59,200 with up to 15% Annual Bonus and Healthcare

Contract: Permanent / Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days remote)

Closing date: 18th September 2026

What you’ll be doing

Join ScottishPower Renewables as a Senior Land & Estates Surveyor and play a pivotal role in delivering land solutions for our expanding onshore renewable energy portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of wind, wind repower, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and solar projects across the UK. You will work closely with the Land & Estates Manager and Head of Land Delivery to secure essential land rights from project inception through to completion. Your expertise will directly contribute to ScottishPower's mission to achieve Net Zero, helping to build the renewable energy infrastructure that powers a sustainable future for communities across Britain.

As Senior Land & Estates Surveyor, you will manage a portfolio of renewable energy projects autonomously, providing professional land services throughout the project lifecycle.

You will coordinate negotiations on Heads of Terms and land rights documents with landowners and their representatives, ensuring all contracts are current, compliant and aligned with project requirements.

Your role includes conducting land rights valuations and providing specialist guidance on compulsory purchase processes, land strategy development, and complex land rights matters.

Working closely with Legal and Project teams to secure necessary rights, you will ensure seamless coordination across development, construction and operational phases.

This includes reviewing and updating legal contracts, maintaining consistency across projects and managing templates and reporting systems.

Acting as a key project team member, you will monitor land requirements against project timelines, identifying potential shortfalls and implementing effective mitigation strategies.

Your duties extend to conducting due diligence exercises for new renewable project acquisitions and joint venture partnerships. You will ensure all contracted lease terms, property rights and obligations are observed, conducting regular audits to verify compliance with land rights.

As a senior point of contact, you will manage relationships with landowners, project teams and where applicable, joint venture partners, ensuring all parties are aware of their rights and obligations.

Assisting the Estate Management Team with Land Management System (LMS) updates and payment systems, you will maintain accurate land data on MS Lists and Power BI platforms.

Financial stewardship is key, as you will ensure all financial obligations are met in coordination with the Estate Management team.

Additionally, you will mentor and develop members of the Land and Estates team, providing knowledge and expertise to build capability across the function.

What you’ll bring

You will hold a degree in a land-related discipline and be a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).

Your background includes proven experience in estates management and acquisition surveying, with solid knowledge of the renewable energy market and associated technologies.

You will possess excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.

Your technical knowledge encompasses land rights acquisition, valuation methodologies and legal contract frameworks.

You will be comfortable conducting risk assessments, identifying potential issues and developing practical solutions that balance stakeholder interests with project goals.

Strong organisational skills enable you to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records across multiple systems and platforms.

Demonstrating effective communication skills, capable of building and maintaining professional relationships with landowners, legal advisors, project teams and senior stakeholders, your approach to working with others will ensure smooth coordination across internal functions and external partners.

You will be proficient in using land management systems, Microsoft Office applications and data management tools including MS Lists and Power BI.

A valid UK driving licence is essential, as the role requires travel to project sites and stakeholder meetings across the UK.

You will bring a proactive, solution-focused mindset and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a high-performing team.

Your dedication to professional development and willingness to mentor others will contribute to building a skilled and capable Land and Estates function.
