Senior Land and Development Manager Job in Portsmouth, Hampshire

New opportunity available for a with our housing association client, working from their office based in Portsmouth on a hybrid basis. The role offers the chance to be part of an established team working on a large waterfront development on the South Coast alongside a strong pipeline of projects moving forward. Offering a salary of up to £85,000 plus bonus potential and extensive benefits!

Role & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design teams and internal clients to assess potential sites, shape development plans, and ensure alignment with business strategy
  • Manage tendering processes, appoint contractors and consultants, and oversee contract administration in partnership with Employer’s Agents
  • Lead on planning, scheduling, and day-to-day monitoring of developments to ensure timely, on-budget, and high-quality delivery
  • Oversee budgets, valuations, and final accounts; ensure value for money, cost control, and financial reporting across all live projects
  • Identify and manage project and commercial risks while ensuring full compliance with planning, building regulations, and internal policies
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant safety legislation including CDM and the Building Safety Act, especially for high-risk buildings
  • Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, regulators, and internal teams to support smooth project delivery
  • Prepare and present clear updates on project status, risks, financials, and key milestones to senior management and business stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualified in Construction Management, Business, Finance, or similar
  • Proven experience managing mid- to large-scale developments
  • Project management experience within the residential sector
  • Strong knowledge of contract management and the social housing sector
  • Strong IT skills and experience with project management software and financial modelling tools
  • Full UK Driving Licence and car
  • MRICS is desirable.
