Job summary

Alfred H Knight in Dundonald is seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician to oversee daily laboratory operations across coal, coke, biomass, RDF and SRF streams. You will supervise workloads, ensure high analytical throughput and maintain ISO 17025 compliance while mentoring junior staff.

The role requires hands-on data processing and validation, strong quality control practices and excellent communication to coordinate across the lab team and with management.

Qualifications

• Proven capability in processing and validating analytical data unsupervised prior to final authorisation.
• Strong working knowledge of laboratory quality standards, operating practices, and compliance procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment within ISO guidelines.
• High level of attention to detail and ability to maintain auditable laboratory records

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting internal progression opportunity for a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our team in Dundonald.

Working closely with the Deputy Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in supervising daily laboratory operations across our fuel testing streams (coal, coke, biomass, RDF, SRF). You will oversee workloads, ensure high analytical throughput, maintain full ISO 17025 compliance, and mentor team members.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

Required Work Experience

• Practical hands-on experience within a laboratory analytical setting.
• Experience collaborating across multiple operational and management levels

Required Qualifications

• Standard Grade or Higher in at least Maths and/or English and 1 Science Subject.
• HNC or HND in a Science-related subject is desirable, though not essential.
