Job summary

Alfred H Knight in Dundonald is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our analytical team. You will perform a wide range of testing across solid fuels, including coal, coke, biomass, RDF and SRF, ensuring results meet accuracy, traceability and ISO accreditation standards.

The role requires working independently to high precision, maintaining auditable records, carrying out routine equipment checks, and communicating results clearly to clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform analytical methods and SOPs to a high degree of precision and accuracy.
• Understanding of ISO 17025, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
• Capability to process QC and analytical data unsupervised in preparation for authorization.
• Ability to perform routine equipment checks and maintain clean, auditable records.

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting internal opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our team in Dundonald.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of analytical testing across solid fuels (including coal, coke, biomass, RDF, and SRF) to help clients evaluate fuel potential and quality. You will work independently to high precision and accuracy standards, supporting our commitment to ISO accreditation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

• Ability to carry out analytical methods and standard operating practices without supervision to a high degree of precision and accuracy.
• Understanding of quality in an analytical setting and compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
• Capability to process QC and analytical data unsupervised in preparation for authorization.
• Ability to perform routine equipment checks and maintain clean, auditable records.

Required Competencies

• Good numeracy skills.
• IT skills - Microsoft and Google applications.
• Highly organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong quality focus and understanding of analytical standards.
• Easily adaptable to change and works well unsupervised under pressure.

Required Work Experience

• Practical experience executing laboratory procedures and standard analytical methods

Required Qualifications

• HNC or HND in a Science-related subject or equivalent practical lab experience.
• Science degree preferable
