The Senior Kubernetes Engineer position will be assisting our cloud platform team in building in CBRE's multi-cloud Kubernetes platform. This position is responsible for delivering and maintaining Kubernetes infrastructure and platform delivery systems & processes. They will also support the customer, employees and CBRE’s interests in all day-to-day functions. They will be responsible for the assisting the team in designing and implementing new Kubernetes technologies as well as ensuring the mission and customer’s requests are met in a timely and accurate manner.

What you will be doing:

  • Extensive Kubernetes design and support experience (preferably with AKS and EKS)

  • Demonstrable experience & knowledge of supporting multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters

  • Extensive experience of supporting application teams running complex Kubernetes applications

  • Deep knowledge of Gitops tooling using ArgoCD

  • Deep understanding and experience of Kubernetes networking components, CNI, ingress controllers, network policy (preferably Cilium) etc.

  • Understanding and experience of Istio Service Mesh

  • Demonstrable experience of building and operating Kubernetes logging and monitoring platforms using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki etc

  • Demonstrable experience & knowledge of implementing Kubernetes upgrades

  • Deep understanding of AWS & Azure cloud & cloud networking components.

  • Documenting service configuration and configuration procedures.

  • Applying software development fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.

  • Configuring, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cloud strategies, policies, and procedures.

  • Monitoring and analyzing cloud server and service usage.

  • Build and deploy secure, scalable, immutable, and reusable modules integrated in DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

  • Providing and implementing recommendations on server and service configuration changes and operational procedures to increase efficiency.

  • Administering and assisting cloud users.

  • Support Engineers during critical and time sensitive production events to ensure a timely resolution.

  • Support Engineers in the Root Cause and correction of error flow to ensure we detect and avoid future customer impacts

  • Support and nurture process improvements and knowledge base improvements

  • Assist in the generation of major incident metrics and reports.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in related field of work or equivalent work experience.

  • Industry related certifications preferred – CKA, CKS, CKAD etc

  • 5+ years’ experience in Kubernetes Engineering or related field.

  • Experience designing and operating multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters, preferably using a Kubernetes management platform (Rancher, Rafay etc)

  • A strong desire to produce high quality platform documentation and mentor colleagues new to Kubernetes

  • Ability to assist engineers in understanding how to optimize their services for utilization, response time, throughput, latency, relative, absolute, variance, instrumentation, parallelism, asynchronous calls, utilization, bottleneck, tracing, resource contention, and MTTR.

  • Familiarity with tools and services such as Azure DevOps (ADO), GitHub Enterprise, Terraform, Terraform Enterprise, Chef, Jenkins and Azure AD.

  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory related to domain authentication and domain groups in an enterprise environment.

  • Experience with cloud firewalls: Azure Firewall, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Cisco FTD, Check Point.

  • Experience with routing and switching: Express routes, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VPC, VRF, STP, VLAN.

  • Experience with Terraform Enterprise, PowerShell and chef.

  • Experience with Cloud IaaS/PaaS: Firewalls, LBs, App GW, VPN/ER GW, SQL MI, UDR, NSG, ASG.

  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively.

  • Strong communication and conceptual skills.

  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines: Energy, enthusiasm, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently is a must
