Job summary

Parser in London is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to design and deliver scalable backend systems using Java and Kotlin.

You will shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate across squads in a banking and payments context, delivering cloud-native, resilient platforms with a focus on quality and performance. The role offers a hybrid working environment and a highly competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in backend development with Java/Kotlin.
• Proven experience building cloud-native microservices.
• Experience in banking/payments domain is preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent testing and CI/CD automation expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native backend systems using Java and Kotlin.
• Shape technical direction, engineering practices, and architectural decisions across tribes and squads for mission-critical banking, payments, or card issuing systems.
• Drive delivery of complex features in ambiguous environments while balancing long-term architecture goals with short-term priorities.
• Coach and develop engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and knowledge-sharing.
• Manage stakeholders across engineering and business functions, and report progress to senior leadership.
• Ensure system resilience, performance, production support excellence, and champion responsible use of AI-assisted software development.
