Arrows in West London is seeking a Java Engineer to work on modern, high-scale systems in a hybrid setup. You’ll design, develop and test microservice applications using Docker and Kubernetes, building scalable, maintainable software for distributed systems.
You’ll mentor juniors, contribute to training, and shape engineering practices while working within event-driven architectures and modern tooling. This role blends hands-on coding with technical leadership.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Java Engineer to get hands-on with microservices, Kubernetes, Kafka and event-driven architecture, while contributing to applications used at significant scale.
What you'll be doing
Design, develop and test new microservice applications using technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
Build highly scalable, maintainable and extensible applications
Work closely with other developers, sharing knowledge and driving best practices
Mentor junior developers and contribute to internal training initiatives
Help shape and improve software delivery principles, standards and engineering practices
Work with modern event-driven architectures and distributed systems
What we’re looking for
Strong commercial experience developing with Java
Hands-on, Strong experience with Kubernetes and Kafka
Experience with configuration and build tools such as Jenkins, Maven and/or Gradle
Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana
Strong understanding of software engineering methodologies, including Scrum and XP
Knowledge of design patterns, SOLID principles and event-driven design
Experience with TDD, BDD and pair programming
