Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer for FX Options Risk. You will design, develop, and optimize a high-throughput, real-time risk system in a front-office facing role and collaborate closely with the FX Options trading desk to translate business needs into scalable software solutions.

You will contribute hands-on development using Core Java, Kafka, CouchbaseDB, and Apache Storm, while mentoring engineers and shaping architectural direction for the bank's risk platform.

Qualifications

• Extensive Java development experience in low-latency or distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of FX trading, options pricing, or real-time risk.
• Proven IC delivering high-throughput distributed systems in production.
• Hands-on expertise in multi-threading, memory management, and GC tuning.
• Experience with real-time stream processing and NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize FX real-time risk infrastructure for high performance and availability.
• Drive technical deliverables, promote code quality, and champion modern practices.
• Provide architectural input and contribute to risk platform modernization.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews and design standards.
• Collaborate with front-office stakeholders to translate requirements into software designs.
