Job summary

Vanrath is seeking a Java Engineer to join a Belfast-based software development team focused on high-performance fintech applications and electronic trading platforms. You will design, develop and maintain scalable software, collaborating with product teams, tech support and business stakeholders to deliver new features and client-specific enhancements.

The role emphasizes performance, automated testing and continuous improvement within an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience developing applications using Java and web technologies.
• Knowledge of the Spring Framework.
• Good understanding of multithreading, concurrency and network programming concepts.
• Experience working with Oracle PL/SQL.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and object-oriented design principles.
• Experience developing high-quality, reusable and maintainable software.
• Understanding of automated testing, software optimisation and performance tuning.
• Experience with messaging middleware, such as Solace, and event-driven or publish/subscribe architectures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within an agile development team.
• Experience within financial services or electronic trading would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and Angular would be desirable.
