Job summary

eDV is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to build secure, cloud-native platforms for National Security programmes in Cheltenham. You will work on large-scale data ingestion pipelines, distributed services, and analyst tooling in highly regulated environments.

You will contribute to secure microservices, OpenShift deployments, and event-driven architectures while improving code quality and software resilience. A background in DV clearance is essential and relocation support may be available.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Java development experience.
• Experience building scalable microservices and distributed systems.
• Spring Boot and cloud-native engineering expertise.
• Experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• A passion for clean, resilient software engineering.
• Experience with Apache NiFi or modern JavaScript is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Build Java services and NiFi data pipelines ingesting and processing large-scale data.
• Develop secure Spring Boot microservices deployed on OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Implement event-driven distributed systems with message brokers.
• Create modern JavaScript apps and REST APIs for analysts to search and visualise data.
• Support cross-domain data flows for secure network boundaries.

eDV or DV Cleared | £70,000-£90,000 | Cheltenham | National Security

Build software that enables analysts to turn complex, multi-source data into actionable intelligence.
We're looking for experienced Java Engineers to develop secure, cloud-native platforms supporting some of the UK's most sensitive National Security programmes. You'll work across large-scale data ingestion, distributed systems, analyst tooling and secure microservices, solving complex engineering challenges in highly regulated environments.

What you'll be building

• Java services and Apache NiFi data pipelines that ingest, enrich and process large-scale mission data
• Secure Spring Boot microservices deployed on OpenShift and Kubernetes
• Event-driven distributed systems using message brokers to connect services, data stores and processing pipelines
• Modern JavaScript applications and REST APIs that enable analysts to search, visualise and manage operational data
• Cross-domain solutions that move information securely between networks of different classifications
